Spike
“Tiger Tap”
Lucky Orphans would like to introduce you to Tiger Tap aka Spike!
Born in 1999 and registered as Tiger Tap, this handsome Thoroughbred gelding boasts a remarkable past. Spike enjoyed a successful racing career, achieving one first-place victory and two third-place finishes in sixteen races. Following his racing days, Spike transitioned to a career in jumping, always cared for with the utmost love and consideration by his dedicated owner.
When it became clear that jumping was putting too much strain on his joints and hooves, his owner made the compassionate decision to retire him. Spike then found his way to LOHR, where he has become a firm favorite among our volunteers.
Known for his affectionate and playful personality, Spike is a true character! He thrives on interaction and loves to be involved in everything happening around him. Spike played a vital role in our equine therapy programs, bringing joy and comfort to members of our community.
In 2024, Spike experienced a setback when he sustained an eye injury. Our dedicated veterinary team performed an enucleation to ensure his comfort and well-being. Today, despite this challenge, Spike continues to live a happy and fulfilling life, enjoying the company of his pasture mates.
