Gypsy Girl

Lucky Orphans would like to introduce you to Gypsy!

This beautiful Paint mare arrived at LOHR in 2008 along with three other horses: Envy, Charisma, Whiskey and Cuervo. Our initial rescue mission focused on the two mares and their foals, but Gypsy had other plans.

Tragically, Gypsy was found hobbled and tethered to a tree near a tension wire fence. In a desperate attempt to escape, she reared and fell, sustaining a serious shoulder injury. The situation escalated further when the owner threatened to euthanize her on the spot. Thankfully, our team intervened, successfully persuading the owner to allow us to bring Gypsy to safety at LOHR.

While her physical wounds healed, the emotional scars of her past remain. Gypsy can be shy and requires patience and positive reinforcement to build trust. However, once a bond is formed, she reveals her true gentle nature. She enjoys grooming sessions, reciprocating the affection with her own gentle grooming.

Today, Gypsy participates in equine-assisted therapies like Reiki and Bowen therapy, finding solace and healing through these modalities. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of forgiveness, resilience, and the ability to overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
